Boss hoping on-loan striker can tranfer his training ground finishing into games
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is hoping that his on-loan striker Tom Hitchcock can transfer his training ground finishing into game situations. The on-loan youngster from QPR made his debut against Crawley Town and endured a difficult afternoon when his strike partner Vadaine Oliver was sent-off for bookable offences early in the second half.
Hitchcock’s chances at goal were limited but he certainly put a shift in before he was replaced by match winner Chuks Aneke in our 1-0 win.
Davis has been impressed by the standard of finishing the former Blackburn trainee has demonstrated in training.
Ahead of the club’s trip to Northampton to face Coventry, Steve told crewealex.net: “Tom is an out and out goal poacher. We haven’t really had time to see that in the game yet but he has shown it in the training sessions.
“He is very composed in his finishing and has been accurate on both sides. He has shown that he is capable of scoring goals at Under-21 level and scored on his debut for QPR, so hopefully in the weeks he is here with us we will get to see his ability.”
