Have To Kick On Now

31 December 2013

Davis wants mini-revival to continue as we enter 2014

Steve Davis says that his players’ tremendous comeback at Colchester United and second away victory of the season is the perfect platform to approach 2014. The Alex fought back from a goal down at half-time to record a first away win since a fine 2-0 win at Preston North End in October.

The Alex boss now wants his side to build on the 2-1 at Colchester by following it up with a positive performance and result against Carlisle on New Years’ Day.

Ahead of our first game of 2014, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Coming back at Colchester and getting the three points will only give the club a lift and restore some confidence. It is the first time we have been able to come back to win a game this season so it should give them belief.

“You can sense the lift it has given them. The dressing room was bouncing afterwards on Sunday and it was a good feeling to have. There is none better than winning football matches. It was a great atmosphere.

The boss added: “It is amazing what a positive result and performance can do and now they have to keep that going. I have been pleased with the response we have had since the Port Vale game. We haven’t always got the results we have deserved and I don’t think the luck has been totally with us on occasions, but I cannot fault their effort.”
