Crewe kept up-to-date on progress of loan goalkeeper
Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has revealed that he has been kept informed about Neil Etheridge’s fitness levels and that he may look to extend his loan deal once his latest one expires in the New Year.
The club are hoping that the Fulham goalkeeper may be fit enough to resume his current loan agreement, as he is progressing well from his thigh injury, but boss Steve Davis says he will not rush him back.
The Alex boss has given Ben Garratt his chance in the first team and Alan Martin has returned from a recent bout of illness to offer competition. The club’s player coach Steve Phillips has also been told that he will not need surgery on a shoulder problem after meeting a consultant yesterday.
Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “I am in constant contact with Fulham about Neil. We have been kept up-to-date with his progress and the two physio’s talk constantly as well.
“Neil is not ready yet but he is improving all the time. We will have to wait and see how he is and then consider what we might do in January.”
