Confidence Is Returning

Steve says signs are there of recovery

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis feels he can see the confidence returning to the Alex dressing room and he admits that it has come at a crucial time with the busy festive period coming up. The Christmas and New Year Period gives all clubs a chance to collect a lot of points in a short space of time and Davis is targeting enough points to get out of the bottom four going into 2014.

Crewe build on a superb 1-0 win over Crawley with ten men, to record a deserved 2-2 draw with Coventry in Northampton last weekend.

place.thAhead of this weekend’s home game with Shrewsbury, Steve told us: “We have four games in a short space of time and it is the ideal opportunity to get a few points very quickly. It is an important time and if we can get the three points on Saturday then we would be two points off Shrewsbury and they are in 15

“When you get that confidence back you can’t wait for the next game to come along. You just want to play and get the points to move up the table.

“I’ve been pleased with the response of the players. The improvement has been there since the Port Vale game. I think everyone has seen that and they have to keep it going.

“There has been a significant difference since the Port Vale game and they are becoming more confident. The signs have been there in training and they are beginning to show what they are about and what we expect from them.

He added: “The confidence is growing and they are feeling better about things.”
