Attitude Has Improved

Boss pleased with the response of his players since he questioned show of their attitude

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has been pleased with the response of his players ever since he pulled some aside to question their attitude. The Alex boss says that the squad will naturally re-accept players into the group or not and that he will continue to assess the progress they are making before contemplating selecting them again for first-team action.

Steve, who feels that the dressing room has improved considerably over the last few weeks, says the action was needed to make sure we were all pulling in the same direction going forward.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The attitude of the players involved has been better in the last couple of weeks since I pulled them up and spoke to them. They have shown improvement but they have to keep doing that.

“That is the least I expect from them. It is what I expected from them in July and going into the season. We weren’t having that from them and we needed a massive improvement.

“Now they have to go out every day, like they have been doing recently, and re-gain the trust and acceptance from the group again. Footballers are not daft they know who is working hard and who is pulling in the right direction and who isn’t.

“That will come gradually within the group. We cannot afford to have one player who is not there with us and not fighting for the cause.

“The improvement and togetherness has been there since the Port Vale game and we needed that reaction from all of them.

He added: “I haven’t excluded anyone from the group and they train with us. They have got to do better and show that real willingness to work hard because that is the least I expect.”
