Davis says AJ would be ready if we need him over Christmas

Steve Davis has praised the attitude of striker AJ Leitch-Smith after his up-and-down season. The Crewe-born Leitch-Smith has found it difficult to hold down a regular place in the starting eleven and his appearances have been restricted to 14 games and one goal against Peterborough back in September.

The Alex boss has been pleased with Leitch-Smith’s reaction to being left out of his team over the last few months.

Steve told crewealex.net: “AJ has been in and out of the team and that has been due to his lack form and goals but he has always worked hard and no-one can fault his attitude.

“His attitude has been spot on and he is ready if we need him. AJ is like anyone else here, if he gets a chance then he has to grasp it.

“AJ has been working hard in training and done fine in the reserve and Under-21 games, without being the threat on goal we know he can be.”
