Steve prepares for an emotional return to Molineux
Steve Davis is looking forward to the club’s Boxing Day trip to Molineux more than any other this season for personal reasons from his childhood. The Crewe Alexandra manager was an avid Wolves fan as a youngster and was a regular at Molineux with his dad to watch matches.
The Alex boss was of course linked with the Wolverhampton Wanderers job in the summer before they appointed Kenny Jackett.
Ahead of the intriguing Boxing Day clash, Steve told us: “I am looking forward to the Wolves game. They are the biggest club in our League and with it being Boxing Day there is sure to be a big crowd there as well.
“As I am sure everyone knows I was also a mad Wolves fan when I was a kid and used to go to Molineux a lot with my dad. I had some great days there and always enjoyed it.
“Of course you allegiances changed when you become a professional footballer and that is what happened to me and now I am going there as a visiting manager trying to put one over them.
“It will be a big day for me and my family and I am sure the players will step up to the plate. They will raise their game in that sort of atmosphere and it should be a great occasion. I am looking forward it and there is no pressure on us. We are underdogs going into the game but we know that on our day we can cause an upset.”
