Vadaine Oliver on an indifferent week to say the least
Crewe Alexandra forward Vadaine Oliver is hoping to put a nightmarish week behind him and focus on the busy Christmas period. Oliver will have to sit out the club’s next League game at Coventry after he received a red card for two controversial yellow cards against Crawley at the weekend.
Oliver was understandably annoyed that he was booked for jumping with his arm and then shown a decisive second yellow card and dismissed after wrongly being accused of diving.
His Crewe team-mates dug in to carve out a superb 1-0 over Crawley and Oliver is hoping that spirit shown will act as the spur we have been looking for to move away from the relegation zone.
Vadaine told Crewe Alex Player: “I thought I'd score one of my best ever goals at Carlisle and it got ruled out, then I should have had a penalty but got sent off against Crawley! I haven't had luck on my side but it is more incentive to work harder to change it.
“I feel I have improved as a player a lot since I have come here, it has brought me on and there is more to come from me.
“I was shocked at the first booking I didn’t even realise that I'd caught him but the ref said I'd done it deliberate - but if I had that should have been a straight red anyway.
“Then I 100% thought I'd won and penalty. Then I turn round and the ref is running at me saying 'you've dived, you've dived' and I thought he was taking the mick. Then he said I'd been looking for it and had gone down on purpose trying to fool him. But the kid took my legs!
“Now I'm going to miss the Coventry game all because of two poor decisions. “
