Boss says youngsters will become more vocal with experience and confidence

Steve Davis is hoping more of his young players can develop leadership qualities, become more vocal on the pitch and lead by example on and off the pitch. Davis says his young group can improve that side of their games and become better organised in what is proving to be a tough division.

Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We are a young group but there is still a lot of experience there in terms of the amount of games they have played. It is difficult to teach leadership qualities because you either have it or you don’t, but you can grow into more responsibility.

“The likes of Murph and Westy were not that vocal as captains, but they took on the extra responsibility and grew into the role. They became the example on and off the pitch, how they handled themselves out on the training ground.

Steve added: “When an individual is struggling with his own performance, then it becomes difficult for them to influence others, especially the young ones but they can improve that side of their game. They can become more vocal and help organise things and with experience some of them will add that to their game.”
