Manager excited by his attacking options ahead of acing league leaders

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he will set up his team to be positive against Leyton Orient this weekend. The Alex boss has been impressed with the start Russell Slade’s side has made to the new season and they have conceded just one League goal so far. Davis is hoping to put the Leyton Orient back line under pressure by going with a positive frame of mind.

Davis maybe without winger Byron Moore (quad) and long-term absentee Mathias Pogba, but with a number of attacking options, the Crewe Alexandra boss says there is an opportunity for his forwards to excite and create.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We are facing a team who have started the season well and have the confidence that comes to winning games.

“Our start has been okay. We should have had more points than we have but I have been reasonably pleased with the performances. We should have beaten Rotherham from the position we were in going into the last five minutes and should have had a point against the MK Dons.

“What we haven’t been able to do is be consistent for the 90 minutes and that is something we need to improve on.

“We will be positive and try and put them under pressure. I know whoever I pick in the advanced positions can create and produce moments of skill to be a handful for any defence at this level. There is excitement there and we have options.

“Max (Clayton) has looked hungry all week in training and AJ Leitch-Smith has worked hard to get himself back in the frame. Lee, Byron and Ryan have a lot of skill and can produce crosses and shots at goal and Vadaine has shown he can score goals in pre-season.

“We also have Chuks, who we know can create and score goals so there are plenty of options for us.”
