Steve praise for Russell's rebuilding at Orient

Steve Davis has praised the job achieved by Russell Slade at Leyton Orient. The O’s finished just outside the play-offs last season and are all set to be major force again in Sky Bet League One.  The East Londoners are currently top of the table after their terrific start to the campaign.

Slade has recruited well in the summer, signing Frenchman Yohann Casiment and Shaun Batt to compliment the likes of in-form strikers David Mooney and Kevin Lisbie.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to London, Steve told crewealex.net: “Russell has done a fantastic job there and I like him. He is a good man and a proper football guy. They had a really promising season last time out, just missing out on a play-off place.

“He has made some good additions to his squad and I expect them to be challenging again. It is a tough league but they are capable of challenging for the top six again because of the quality they have.

He added: “It is always a tough place to go and it will be a good measure for us, so early on in the season. We will go there in a positive frame of mind after we got that first win last weekend and following on from our second half performance at the MK Dons. We haven’t peaked yet and will only improve.”
