Steve Davis says that Vadaine Oliver is progressing in the right direction
Summer signing Vadaine Oliver is under serious consideration for selection ahead of this weekend’s home game with Tranmere Rovers. Oliver has been used as an impact substitute so far in his Crewe Alexandra career, but the former Lincoln City man has boss Steve Davis ‘food for thought’ ahead of his next selection.
Oliver’s physical presence and aerial ability certainly gives boss Steve Davis a different option as the Railwaymen go in search of their first win of the season.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Vadaine has arrived from Lincoln and he is still learning his trade. He has had to make that step up two divisions and in many ways he is a bit similar to Pogs (Mathias Pogba) when he first arrived from Wrexham.
“Pogs came in and needed some work. Vadaine is a bit like that but he also has good attributes. He is athletic and good in the air.
“If the pre-season showed anything it was that he could score goals and spectacular ones as one. He is very agile and is a danger in the opposition box. He wins his fair share of flick-ons as well and is a willing runner for the team. He is a real team player and an honest lad, who works tirelessly for the team.
