Leeds' new boy Murph praise for his former club

Luke Murphy was quick to praise the contribution made by Crewe Alexandra after his dream debut for his new club Leeds United. The former Crewe captain scored an injury time winner at Elland Road to seal a 2-1 win over Brighton in front of over 33,000 supporters.

Murphy progressed through the Academy ranks at Crewe, and famously led the club to Johnstone’s Paint Trophy glory at Wembley back in April.

Luke said: “Crewe have always produced young players and they know what I am capable of. They never put any pressure on you and tell you to go out there and be another David Platt or whoever. They just let you get on with your football and that helped me develop my game.

“Now my goal is to keep the proud tradition of that club going. You don’t want to be the one that has gone from Crewe and not quite made it.”

On his dream start in the all-white of Leeds, Murph said: “I dreamt that I would get the winner but I dreamt it was a screamer from 40-yards. I will take it and it was a great feeling.”
