Great Respect For Ronnie

Davis looking forward to locking horns again with experienced Moore

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis possesses a lot of respect for Saturday’s opposing manager Ronnie Moore. The former Rotherham United manager continuously rebuilds his sides in the wake of departures and his shrewd business this summer has seen the former Crewe Alexandra favourites Ryan Lowe and Stephen Foster move to Prenton Park.

place. thMoore got Tranmere off to an absolute flier last season, as his side went 13 games unbeaten and although a loss of that outstanding early form and injuries eventually took their toll on his squad they still finished the season in a healthy 11

Ahead of this weekend’s home game, Steve told us: “I like Ronnie and have a lot of respect for the jobs he has always done. He has a good eye for a player and always seems to assemble a good team and a good squad wherever he has been.

He added: “He is a proper football guy and he does a good job, on what is usually a restricted budget. He often loses his better players and it is hard to replace them all the time, but his recruitment is good and he gets the best out of his players.

“It will be another touch game because you know that a team managed by Ronnie Moore will be organised and determined to get a result.”
