Steve Davis after frist three points of the season at home to Tranmere this weekend

Steve Davis is looking to take the positives from last weekend’s second half performance at MK Dons into this weekend’s home clash with Tranmere Rovers. Crewe just ran out of time in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to leave us 16th in the League table on one point. It is still very early days, but the Crewe boss is hoping to secure three points as soon as possible.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I think you can see the look on the manager’s faces after they get those first three points and what it means. There is relief when you do manage to get that first win in the league because it gets you up and running. Hopefully we can do that and go on a little run of results.

“We should have had that first win against Rotherham on the opening day of the season but from a convincing position we let it slip in the closing minutes. In fact, we should have four points by now from two games, instead of the one we have because I thought we deserved a point at the MK Dons.

He added: “We are disappointed not to have more points but we are hopeful we can get that against Tranmere this weekend. Tranmere have had a similar star to us and Ronnie (Moore) will be expecting the same so it should be an interesting game.”
