Billy Waters and Vadaine Oliver back training

Crewe Alexandra youngster Billy Waters is back training with the first team squad after overcoming his slight knee injury. Midfielder Waters had caught the eye in pre-season before his injury hampered his chances of possibly breaking into the first team squad for this weeekend's opener against Rotherham. His recent form has seen him earn a place on the stand-by list for the Wales Under-21 squad, alongside his team-mate George Ray.

Crewe could also be boosted by the return of summer signing Vadaine Oliver. The former Lincoln City striker has missed the last four friendly games after suffering a groin injury against our local neighbours Nantwich Town. Oliver scored a second half hat-trick in that game to set up a comfortable 4-1 win. Oliver is hopeful of declaring himself fit for the weekend and that could be a major plus with Mathias Pogba doubtful with a knee injury, after he was forced off against a Manchester United XI on Monday night.
