Davis On Full Debutant

Boss pleased with Vadaine's work ethic

Steve Davis says that striker Vadaine Oliver could be pleased with his full debut for the club as he occupied Tranmere Rovers’ defender Ash Taylor and Stephen Foster during Crewe’s 2-1 win on Saturday.

The club’s summer signing from Lincoln City didn’t have too many opportunities to threaten the Tranmere goal but his work ethic pleased the Crewe coaching staff.

Steve said of his latest debutant: “Vadaine worked very hard and he occupied their centre halves. He doesn’t give them a second’s rest and they would have known that they were in a game. Vadaine is a great team player and he competes for everything. He won his fair share of flick on’s and I thought he was a handful.

“He is still only 21 and is still learning the game. We know that he is going to be a threat in the air and we will get him in the opposition box and running in behind. He can improve his all round game and it will be up to us to tidy his game up.

“I thought he could be pleased with his first game and he will get better with more experience and playing with our players.”
