Chuks Eyes Cup Run

6 August 2013

Playmaker hoping for role at Gigg Lane tonight

Crewe Alexandra’s most recent signing Chuks Aneke is hoping he will be handed a chance to impress against Bury this evening. Arsenal's Aneke returned on Friday for a second loan stint with the club and the creative playmaker is hoping he can force his way into Steve Davis’ starting line-up as soon as he can.

Aneke, who was arguably Crewe’s star performer at Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final back in April is after another positive cup run, starting with the Capital One Cup tie against Bury tonight.

Chuks told crewealex.net: “All players want to play as much they can and the competition for places here is good. We have lost Luke (Murphy) who has gone to Leeds, and we know what a good player he is, but the manager has been able to bring some new players in and the squad is stronger.

“We all want to go as far as we can in the cups. We had a great run in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and to play at Wembley and win is everything you dream about. It was an unbelievable experience for everyone and we want to go as far as we can again in all the cups.

“I just want to play as much as I can. It improved me as a player last season and the experience made such a difference to my performances.”
