Steve delight as Crewe finally get their man

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says that Brad Inman deserves great credit for preferring to leave a Premier League club to play regular football in League One. Crewe and Newcastle have this evening come to a financial agreement over the compensation fee, thus avoiding the possibility of a tribunal.

Inman, 21, has signed a three-year contract with the club and will wear the number 14 shirt.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We are delighted to have completed the signing of Brad. It is a transfer that we have had to work hard on and the club deserve great credit for the signing.

“He will be a great asset for the club and he deserves great credit for turning down Newcastle’s offer and going into the lower leagues to play regular football. I ‘m sure there are not many 21-year-olds who could turn down a Premier League Club for the bigger pitcher.

“They can become comfortable in that environment and it is the easy way, but Brad is doing it the more difficult way. He is prepared to leave and play competitive games week in week out. That will only help with his development and we know we have a good player on our hands.

“He has shown courage and now it is up to us to improve him further and really get his career going again, like I think we did last season.”
