Davis says club can still sneak into the play-offs if we can go on unbeaten run
Steve Davis says that meeting promotion seeking Brentford so soon after winning at Wembley, will soon get his players refocused on the job at hand. The Alex boss is still firmly focussed on trying to get Crewe to sneak into a play-off position with a really positive end to the season. There is still an outside chance of the Railwaymen making the top six, but Davis knows they can ill-afford to make too many slip ups in our remaining six matches.
The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “The Brentford game is a good one to have so soon after Wembley, because they are a good side and one of the favourites for promotion.
“We will have to play well to get a result and that is what we after. We try and win every game and nothing has changed on that. I think the supporters appreciate how we approach each game, trying to get a positive result.
“We still have an outside chance of sneaking into the play-offs, but we cannot afford to slip up. We play five of the top teams and it will be a great challenge for us. If we want to keep our season going then the next two home games will be crucial.
He added: “We have some really good games coming up and they are all cup finals from now on. We are third in the form table behind Bournemouth and Doncaster and have just won a cup, so we got into the game full of confidence and we owe them one after they dominated the game from start to finish at their place.”
