Stewart: "Hoping To Impress"

Spurs youngster says everyone determined to be named in Steve's squad for Wembley

Crewe’s new loan signing Kevin Stewart is hoping he can do enough in the remaining few days to convince Steve Davis that he is worth a place in his Wembley line-up on Sunday.

Stewart, 19, only made his full debut against Preston North End on Sunday after recently signing on loan until the end of the season from Spurs and the full-back has had to pinch himself that his next game could be a run out at the National Stadium against Southend United.

Kevin told crewealex player: “I wanted to come out on loan and play some competitive games and I knew that I was ready to make my debut and play in the league. I had prepared well for my debut and I felt I played okay for my first game.

“I was happy with the way things went against Preston North End and the most important thing was that the team won the game.

“I knew that the club had a Wembley Final coming up and when I knew Crewe were interested in taking me on loan, I jumped up the chance. I saw it as an opportunity to play some games and possibly have the chance to play at Wembley.

“I knew that I had a bit of time to impress if I wanted to play at Wembley and hopefully I have done enough to be included. We still have a few days of training left to impress and everyone is desperate to be involved as you would expect.

“It is every players’ dream and for me to achieve something like that so soon in my career would be a great achievement, especially in front of my family and friends.”
