Alex boss on a defeat to Brentford
Boss Steve Davis urged his side not to let their season fizzle out after the Railwaymen slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against an impressive Brentford side at Gresty Road.
A powerful first-half header from Bradley Wright-Phillips and a stunning late volley from Marcelo Trotta secured a fairly comfortable victory for the promotion contenders.
Speaking after the game Davis felt several of his side were below par, and was left very disappointed with the way his side started the game.
Steve told crewealex.net: “It was a disappointing night for us. After the terrific performance that we put in Sunday we couldn’t follow it up. Brentford started the game like we started the game against Southend.
“We started the game poorly and I have had a go at the players for that. We gave them a foot-hold in the game and made it very difficult for ourselves. After the first-twenty minutes we started to play and compete but never really created chances.
“Brentford were very competitive and powerful. We think they are the best team that we have played and we struggled to cope with that.
“It is a really tough league and we owe it to ourselves to dig in now and make sure we win as many games as we can and hopefully take that into next season. “
