Davis on new loan signing Kevin Stewart after he made his full debut in 1-0 win
Steve Davis has praised his latest debutant Kevin Stewart after he helped Crewe Alexandra record a hard fought 1-0 win over Preston North End.
Stewart was handed a chance after recently signing on loan from Tottenham Hotspur and the youth team captain could now be in line for a place in Sunday’s final against Southend United. The competition for those places in the Wembley squad is certainly increasing day-by-day and with Gregor Robertson struggling with an Achilles injury, Stewart could yet grab his opportunity.
It was Stewart’s full senior debut after only being named on the substitutes’ bench by Spurs in the past.
After the 1-0 win over Simon Grayson’s side, the Alex boss said: “Kevin was decent and grew in stature. He showed a great temperament for his debut and was very steady.
“He is two footed so he has the ability to play himself out of trouble when it is tight and options are limited. I am sure he enjoyed the occasion and his family were at the game to see him make his debut. I am sure it was a good learning experience for him.”
