Goalkeeper hoping to declare himself fit for Yeovil trip

Crewe Alexandra’s Wembley winning goalkeeper Steve Phillips is hoping to declare himself fit and available for this weekend’s trip to Yeovil Town. The experienced stopper has missed the club’s last two matches with a troublesome dead leg after being caught in the home defeat by Brentford.

In his absence, Alan Martin regained his place and has done well in the club’s last three matches, but Phillips is hoping to play again this season and hopes to travel to Huish Park.

Crewe will also give Mark Ellis as long as possible to declare his fitness, after he was forced off at half-time at Swindon on Tuesday night with an ankle injury. Ellis remains a doubt with George Ray remaining on stand-by.

The Alex do welcome back Abdul Osman back from a two-match suspension but forward Mathias Pogba (thigh) and defender Gregor Robertson (Achilles) are ruled out for the season.
