Captain hoping to fit for final game of the season

"He can train on Wednesday or Thursday then we will review it for Saturday. Fingers crossed he will be okay."

Manager Steve Davis told the club's official web-site: "Murph hasn't been able to train yet and declare himself fit. He is making good progress but he will have train this week to have a chance of being involved against Walsall on the final day of the season.

Murphy is hoping to lead the side, possibly an Academy themed one, for the visit of Walsall on the final day of the season.

Murphy has been struggling with a groin injury, and played through the pain barrier at Wembley to help us lift the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. He played just over an hour of our next game against Brentford but has not featured since.

Crewe Alexandra's influential captain Luke Murphy will miss tonight's home clash with Sheffield United and will have to train again later this week to declare himself fit and available for the final game of the season against Walsall.
