Steve says it will be a proud moment for Crewe kids to perform at Wembley again
Steve Davis says watching local lads and Academy graduates walk out at Wembley is what Crewe Alexandra is all about. Davis was continued to introduce young players to first-team action this season with the likes of Oliver Turton, Ryan Colclough, Max Clayton and Kelvin Mellor all trying to secure a place in the manager’s starting line-up. Then you have the likes of Matt Tootle, Byron Moore, Harry Davis, AJ Leitch-Smith and captain Luke Murphy all hoping to be involved as well on Sunday.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “When they were young boys coming into the Academy here at Crewe at 7, 8, 9 they would have been dreaming of one day playing at Wembley.
“It is brilliant for them and some of them are very fortunate in their careers to be going back for a second time already! It will be a fantastic day for them and for all those who have seen them come through the Academy here.
“I am sure they will be very proud. Their families will be very proud and the Academy staff will be very proud as well. I am sure everyone connected will remember the day for the rest of their lives.”
