Davis says that the Alex dressing room is up for challenge
Steve Davis says the club’s victory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy has only enhanced the great confidence within the Crewe camp. Davis wants his players to refocus on the remaining league games to give ourselves the best possible chance of sneaking into the top six. The Alex boss is still after high standards and says there will be no easing off from him or his staff.
The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “We are in good form and winning a cup has only added to that confidence we have. The confidence has to be sky high in any dressing room when you go to Wembley and win.
“If the confidence is high amongst the players then the performance should follow. It should be a great game because the games are running out and teams cannot afford too many slip ups. It is exciting and that is what I am looking for in the remaining games. We still mathematically have a chance and we will keep going until the final game.
“There is a different type of pressure on the teams at the top because they know they cannot afford to slip. They will look at it and think they have to win if they want to go up automatically. Uwe (Rosler) has done a great job at Brentford and he will want to finish in the top two and avoid the lottery of the play-offs.
He added: “We have an outside chance and need the points to keep our chance alive as well.”
