Brentford Gave Us Wake Up Call

10 April 2013

Davis says 5-1 hammering at Griffin Park gave us a harsh reality

Uwe Rosler’s Brentford side produced arguably the most impressive performance of the season against Crewe Alexandra. The Railwaymen were well beaten 5-1 at Griffin Park back in late August with manager Steve Davis later stating that all of his players were ‘below par on the day’.

Davis will be looking for a much better display against the Bees at Gresty Road this evening and he will be looking for the three points to keep our own play-offs alive in the run-in.

Although we didn’t perform on the day at Brentford, Davis was very impressed by Brentford: “It was a tough day for us at Brentford. We soon learn quickly what this league is all about. We didn’t start well at all and Brentford dominated the game from start to finish.

“None of our players performed. It doesn’t happen very often. Sometimes you might have one or two below par but on that day it was all of them. It made a lot of mistakes.

He added: “Brentford proved on that day what a good side there are, with a lot of attacking impetus and they have been consistency good throughout the season. They deserve to be where they are in the league and remain one of the favourites for automatic promotion.”
