Davis hopes Swindon's new manager proves to be a success

Steve Davis hopes Swindon’s relatively new manager Kevin MacDonald proves to be a success at the County Ground. Davis knows MacDonald from his previous time with Aston Villa reserves and says the former Liverpool and Leicester City midfielder is a proper football man, who will be working hard to make sure Swindon are in the promotion mix.

Crewe will be looking to dent their hopes of securing a play-off place by winning at the County Ground this evening.

Ahead of the trip to Wiltshire, the Alex boss said: “Swindon have had a bit of tough time with injuries. Kevin has had to put some of the younger players in. They have slotted in well and are still very much in the mix.

“I’ve known Kevin since he was the reserve manager at Aston Villa and he is a good guy. He is a good manager and I like him. I hope he does really well at Swindon.

“They are still in there. They are in the sixth spot and have two or three chasing them down, so tonight’s match is very important to them.”
