Steve: "Pleased With The Way We Played"

Boss after goalless draw at Carlisle

As goalless draws go it certainly wasn't boring with both sides doing there best to try and win the game. After the stalemate, Steve Davis told crewealex.net: "It was a well deserved point and I was proud of the the performance and the way we defended. We could have possibly won the game with us having a couple of good chances and AJ hitting the crossbar. Perhaps at times we were a bit shot shy and I've said to them that they have got to be a bit more positive when they did get in.

"Toots could have shot on a couple on occasions but he is not used to being in that sort of position. He has to be a bit more positive but he did really well to get in there in the first place. He wasn't the only one because Murph and Byron also passed the buck when they could have could have got shots off.

"We started really well and were excellent in that opening half an hour. They came back into in for the final ten minutes and had a fantastic shot that Alan Martin did well to save. They then came at us at the start of the second half but I thought we weathered that storm well and were strong in our defending when those crosses were coming in. They also hit the post just after AJ's great effort, so it was fairly even.

"I didn't think it was a boring 0-0 and i think the fans could see that both sides tried their best to try and win it. We just needed to be a bit more careful with our chances and missed that killer edge tonight but I've said to them that if we can play like that and continue to create chances then we will be fine. I thought they could be pleased with the way they played tonight."
