Alex boss happy to add to his squad ahead of MK Test

Boss Steve Davis has revealed that new signing Andy Bond is expected to go straight in to the Alex side for the trip to Milton Keynes tomorrow afternoon. The Alex boss was keen to add reinforcements to his squad after Abdul Osman was ruled out of the trip to the Stadium MK, and this morning swooped to bring former Alex scholar Bond back to South Cheshire.

Davis feels that Bond’s previous time with the Alex will put him in good stead to be able to fit straight in to the Alex squad, and revealed that he spoke Bond’s former boss John Ward who spoke very highly of the 27-year-old midfielder.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Abdul is struggling at the moment and he will be out a bit longer than we had anticipated, so he won’t be available for us tomorrow. So it was important to bring somebody in.

“We have got Murph (Luke Murphy) and Ollie (Turton), but if we had lost one of them we would have been struggling, so thankfully we have managed to bring Andy.

“I obviously wasn’t here when he was first here, but he has gone on and built a very good career for himself at Colchester. I spoke with John Ward about him and he highly recommended him. He knows what we all about, and hopefully he can come in and do a good job for us.

“He knows some of the players too, and he can fit in well, so it just seemed like the right deal to do for us. “
