Davis tries out new set-piece takers
Steve Davis has revealed that he has used a period of this week to find a new set play taker. With Ashley Westwood moving to Aston Villa and Harry Bunn ruled out with a serious knee injury, the club have been trying out new set-piece takers ahead of this weekend’s trip to Stevenage.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We have done some work on the set-plays. It has been more difficult with the wind but we have worked through some things because Westy took them and when he left Harry Bunn was taking the corners and free-kicks.
“We have one or two candidates for the role now and set-plays are always very important. They can win you points, especially in a tight game. We have practiced attacking them and defending them.
“We should score more from set-pieces because we have players here who can head goals and ones who can score from 20-25 yards as well. It is all about how the player attacks the ball. If the delivery is good and the player is brave enough to attack it then you have a good chance.
“It is all about god quality and that is what we have been trying to improve on.”
