Alex boss on draw with Leyton Orient
Crewe boss Steve Davis was left frustrated that his side were held to a fourth successive draw against Leyton Orient. The Alex took the lead in only the second minute through a stunning Matt Tootle goal, but a Martin Rowlands strike was enough to earn Orient a point.
Davis felt his side needed to make the most out of several decent chances in the first-half and while he was happy with the way he played during the opening 45 minutes, he was left disappointed with the way his team played in the second-half.
One positive to come from the game for Davis was the performance of Brendon Daniels and Ryan Colclough who both made their full debuts for the club, and Davis feels the duo can be proud of their display.
Steve told crewealex.net: “I thought Ryan did very well. He has done well in pre-season and the youth games. He made a big impact on the game too, and could have had a couple of goals. I thought Brendon did well too, but he unfortunately couldn’t keep it going in the second half.
“It was good to give those young players a game, but we do lack a bit of experience and it showed in the second half. We did really well in the first-half and got a great start through ‘Toots’. We created some good chances but didn’t take enough of them and that has been the same story in the last few games.
“They have managed to score with a decent volley, and we have gone in at half-time level. But then we have come out for the second-half completely different, it was like I had sent another set of players out.
“The players have got to try and sustain their performance throughout the 90 minutes, but having said that, we had a very young team out. Maybe we had too many teenagers out there in the end, but how else can they got an opportunity? The squad is threadbare at the moment and we just haven’t done enough.”
