"Ryan Has Great Chance"

25 September 2012

Toots impressed by youngster's instant impact

Utility man Matt Tootle says that teenage winger Ryan Colclough has a bright future in the game after recently making the breakthrough into the first-team frame. Colclough was a late substitute for fellow Academy graduate Brendan Daniels against Leyton Orient on Saturday and his introduction certainly gave us an extra impetus in the closing stages. Colclough went close to scoring a winning goal and Tootle, who had opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw, said the youngster could be pleased with his contribution.

Tootle told crewealex.net: “I am sure Ryan enjoyed it and enjoyed making his debut in front of the home crowd. He certainly wasn’t fazed by it and because he is very direct in his play, it changed the game a bit for us because we had been flat in the second half.

“He could be pleased with the way he performed. He could have even scored a couple to win the game as well, so he took his chance.

“He has trained with us for a bit now and been impressive. He has to get used to playing in front of crowd and gain experience from that. He has a real chance of making a n impact and now just has to push on for himself and for the team.”
