Murph: "Delighted To Sign"

Luke Murphy on his new two-year deal

Luke Murphy has told Crewe Alex Player of his delight in signing a new two-year deal with the club. The 22-year-old put pen-to-paper this afternoon and explained that there was never any doubt in his mind about extending his stay at Gresty Road.

The newly-appointed captain told the club’s official web-site: “I am delighted to have signed the contract. I am a local lad and Crewe is the team I’ve always played for growing up. It is a pleasure to play here and everyone knows the style of play suits me.

“This is where I want to play and improve and I know I am at the right club to help my development. I am approaching 150 games, which is a good return for a 22-year-old, so all I’ve got to do is keep pushing on and become better.

“There was never no doubt in my mind. I didn’t want the contract talks to interfere with the games we were playing and the fact that I was out of the team after coming back from my injury. I just wanted to concentrate on my performances and helping the team.

“I had some talks with Steve (Davis) and we both knew where we were going with it. He had to talk to the chairman about one or two things, but it was all done and I was delighted to sign.

“This is my local team and it is an honour to captain Crewe and I think it is a club very much on the up after what we achieved last season and the players we have here.”

There is a lot more from Murph available on Crewe Alex player now. Why not sign up now to hear more from the skipper?
