Boss on Murphy's contract talks

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that he has held positive talks with his new captain Luke Murphy and his agent and hopes that his new deal will be signed off soon. Murphy, 22, recently stated that he is close to agreeing a new two-year deal with the club and Davis has today stressed that the two parties ‘are not far off’.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have had talks with Luke and his agent and it was all positive. We just have one or two things to sort out but I expect something to be finalised very soon.

“The chairman is currently away but once he comes back I’m sure we will sit down and get the contract signed. We are not far off and Murph has said he is keen to stay and improve here.”
