League Not Taking Shape Yet

Steve believes division won't settle down until 15 game in

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says the npower League One table will not settle down until at least 15 matches have been played. Davis says that ‘unexpected results’ will continue to spring up until new players settle in and squad numbers begin to have a telling affect heading into the Christmas period.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is still a bit too early yet for the league to take real shape. I think it will take 12, 15 games before it really begins to sort itself out more.

“I still think there will be some unexpected results and some surprise teams and hopefully we can take advantage of that ourselves.

“What you will notice heading in Christmas is that squad size will begin to make a difference. It is having those players to come in when there are injures and suspensions that will keep that momentum going. It is always a tough, long season and squad size does matter. You need quality and a little bit of luck as well.

The boss added: “At the moment with the injuries we have and the suspension to Chuks Aneke we cannot afford to have any more or we would be short.”
