Michael West suffers knock on his ankle in development squad game
Summer singing Michael West picked up a knock on his ankle during the club’s 4-0 defeat at Leicester City on Monday evening. The club’s Under-21 squad were giving a tough test against the likes of Ritchie Wellens and Paul Gallagher at the Walkers Stadium but the fixture gave the likes of Matt Tootle and West a much needed run –out after they recently came back from injury.
Tootle showed no reaction to his hip and groin problem and West concerning his Achilles injury, but the former Ebbsfleet man did receive a blow on his ankle and the latest set-back could rule him out of the squad for the visit of Tranmere this weekend.
Forward West is rated as a major doubt after only returning to the substitutes bench last weekend against Coventry.
Mathias Pogba is ruled out of this weekend's home clash with Ronnie Moore's side with a knee injury.
Crewe will also be without Steve Phillips as he recovers from his recent knee operation. The goalkeeper is making considerable progress and could return to training as early as next week.
