Davis Praise For Defensive Pair

18 September 2012

Boss pleased with Ellis and Davis combination

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager, has been pleased with the recent performances at the back with the Alex now unbeaten in three matches. The run has also included two clean-sheets against Coventry and Tranmere Rovers and Davis has been delighted with the central partnership of Mark Ellis and Harry Davis.

Steve said he has only tried out with pairing following an illness to regular Adam Dugdale on the eve of our League Cup tie at West Ham.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I hadn't really thought of that combination but they get in well, both want to do well and they spur each other on and help each other.

“They are both mobile, good enough in the air and they can play to a certain degree.

He added: “They played (Patrick) Agyemang and (Marcus) Haber, both former Premier League players, on Saturday and it didn't faze them and they both got brought off which was all credit to show they performed. They saw them off. They have been a real plus point for us in the last few games and hopefully they will get even better.”
