Boss says Arsenal youngster is here to play games

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra says he is looking forward to working with his new loan signing Chuks Aneke. The 19-year-old Arsenal midfielder could be set for his debut tomorrow for the Railwaymen tomorrow if the club receive Premier League clearance. The emergency loan market opens at midnight and Crewe are hopeful that the England youth international will be granted permission to feature.

Steve, who has been after another midfield player since seeing Ash Westwood join Aston Villa on deadline day, said: “Chuks has been brought up the right way at Arsenal. We all know they play the right way and we try to do something similar here so we think he will fit in.

“We are hoping the move will suit us both. He is at the time of his career where he needs games and that is why he has come here. He is a big powerful lad and I hope he will excite the fans.

“He is also very versatile and can play across the four up front or in the two in midfield. It is his versatility that attracted us to him as well.

“I spoke to Steve Bould about him and Noel Blake, who worked with him throughout the England youth set-up and they both speak very highly of him.

“If everything goes well and we get Premier League clearance then we could be involved tomorrow. I had a chat with him yesterday about things when he came up in the afternoon and he is a good fella and just wants to play games.”

He added: “I am sure this will be help with his development.”
