Davis says referee got Aneke decision right

Crewe Alexandra will not be appealing the red card shown to midfielder Chuks Aneke at Stevenage at the weekend. Having viewed the challenge by the on-loan youngster on Anthony Grant, boss Steve Davis has ruled out an appeal and the 19-year-old will now serve a three-match suspension.

Davis told the club’s official web-site: “At the time I thought he had slipped and Chuks said he had as well in the dressing room. From the angle we saw it from it didn’t look malicious and I stand by that because he is not that sort at lad at all, but it was a red card.

“His two feet do leave the floor and it was a straight red card. The referee made the right decision and Chuks will have to learn his lesson quickly. It was a rush of blood from him and he has to learn from it.”
