Club To Check On Max

7 September 2012

Club to make sure Max is fit enough to be involved against league leaders

Steve Davis is hopeful that his young striker will be fit and fresh enough to face Tranmere Rovers tomorrow after playing an hour for England’s Under-19s. Noel Blake’s young lions were beaten 3-1 in last night’s International friendly with our former player Nick Powell scoring a glorious chip in Hamburg.

Clayton played an hour for England, but Davis is still confident that his teenager will be fit to be involved against the top topper tomorrow.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “When you allow your players to play for England or other countries then you have to accept that they will be away for part of the week. That is part and parcel of it.

“I have good dialogue with Noel (Blake) over our players and he knows that Max is involved with our first team and is important to us.

“He played an hour which is a little longer than we expected but nevertheless he was playing an under-19 international game, and they are tactical and slower.

Steve added: “It will be a good experience for him playing International football and we will see how he is with the game and the travelling involved before deciding on what to do. We have to be mindful of that.”
