Club Resist Forward Loan Offer

26 September 2012

Steve rejects chance to bring in another forward on loan

Steve Davis has revealed to the club’s official web-site that he was offered a ‘Championship striker of great interest’ but has rejected the chance to bring him in on-loan because he has welcomed back his leading marksman Mathias Pogba from injury. With the versatile Chuks Aneke also set to return from a three-match suspension after Saturday’s trip to MK Dons, Davis is sticking with his own forwards for the time being.

The Alex boss could yet move for a midfield player though if Abdul Osman doesn’t shake off an ankle injury this week.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Our squad has been a little threadbare but I wanted to give our own players a chance. It was a young bench on Saturday and they had not played many games. I could do with someone I could look to bring on to change it, the likes of Pogs and Chuks will allow us to do that.

“They are coming back and will give us more options.

“I've been offered a couple of players, one of which would be of great interest He as a forward, but I can't guarantee him playing time because we'll soon have all our main strikers available plus Ryan and Brendan. There's no rush.

“I’m sure someone will take him because he is from a good Championship club where he has fallen out of favour. We'll look out to see who his future holds, he is someone we liked previously but at the moment we don't need him.

He added: “We have our own lads who have served us well. They are more than good enough for this division.”
