Davis says movement of AJ key to opening up Sky Blues
Steve Davis praised the intelligence of striker AJ Leitch-Smith as Crewe recorded their first home win in npower League One with a 1-0 win over Coventry on Saturday. The quick feet and vision of AJ Leitch-Smith helped open up the Sky Blues defence for Max Clayton to slot home the only goal of the game at Gresty Road.
Steve told crewealex.net: “AJ was superb, especially in the first half against Coventry. He was dropping off and finding space, which is difficult to do when the opposition play a diamond system and have a screener in front of the back four.
“He did it really well and found space in the gaps and used the wings really well as well. He worked hard at that and was clever in-around the box.
“With Pogs (Mathias Pogba) out it was a fairly new partnership with Max and AJ up there but they worked hard and linked up well.”
