Davis says Gunner could play key role whilst on loan

Steve Davis is looking for his loan signing from Arsenal Chuks Aneke to work on his fitness level to make the sort of impact he expects. The 19-year-old midfielder made a promising start to his Crewe career with a 30-minute display against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday and the Alex boss says there is still move to come from the powerful England Youth International.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Chuks has come in and understandably he is a bit short of that match fitness and sharpness because he has not played many games.

“He is a very athletic and powerful lad and will only get better. He has a real presence on the pitch and the fitter he becomes, the better he will be.

“He is 6’3” and a huge lad for someone so young. He has more work to do but he will build on and improve. There will be more to come from him.

Steve added: “He can play in the four roles in midfield or off the front man. We want him to be involved in the build up but then to get in the box for the crosses because he could score headed goals. He has shown in training that he is good in the air.”
