Boss On Alan's Contract

28 September 2012

Alex boss hopeful of new contract for keeper

Boss Steve Davis has revealed that he is looking to reward goalkeeper Alan Martin with an extended contract at the club. Yesterday Luke Murphy joined the likes of Adam Dugdale, Harry Davis and Ajay Leitch-Smith in committing their immediate futures to the club, and now it looks like Martin could be next in line.

Martin only signed a short-term deal with the club in the summer, a deal which expires in January. But after an injury to Steve Phillips in pre-season, the 23-year-old has featured in all of the clubs game so far this term.

Davis feels his performances in these games have merited another deal. Steve told “I’ve spoken with the Chairman about Alan. We spoke about him in the same breath as Murph and I am keen for him to stay.

“He has done really well for us this season considering he didn’t feature at all for us last season. He has made the transition in to League One very well and is thoroughly deserved to keep his place.

“So I will sit down and have another chat with the Chairman and discuss Alan with him, and hopefully we can have a chat with Alan soon.”
