Crewe delighted to sign Chuks Aneke on a youth loan from Arsenal
Crewe Alexandra Football Club are delighted to announce the youth loan signing of Arsenal midfielder Chukwuemeka Ademola Amachi Aneke. The 19-year-old known fondly as ‘Chuks’ has signed a one-month loan deal with the club and will offer cover and competition in midfield after the club sold Ashley Westwood to Aston Villa on deadline day. The deal will commence from Saturday and remains subject to FA Premier League clearance.
Born in Newham and of Nigerian descent, Aneke made his senior debut for Arsenal against Shrewsbury Town in a League Cup tie back in September 2011 when replacing current England International Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a 3-1 win.
Although his chances at the Emirates Stadium have been limited, the 6ft 3in, attacking midfielder has gained valuable experience on loan last season with Stevenage and Preston North End. He made 13 appearances in the Football League last season for the two clubs, scoring his first senior goal for Preston against Bury in March 2012. He also served a three-match suspension as a Preston North End player after being sent-off for a high tackle against Leyton Orient.
A regular for Arsenal’s youth and reserve teams, Aneke has also represented England at Youth level from Under-16 to Under-19 level.
The new recruit will wear the number 26 shirt and is eligible to face Tranmere Rovers tomorrow if the club receive FA Premier League clearance.
