Westy Has To Build On Debut

26 October 2012

Steve challenges winger to establish himself in his starting XI

Steve Davis was pleased with his full debutant Michael West on Tuesday evening and now he wants the summer signing from Ebbsfleet to stay fit and really challenge for a place in his first team. West was handed an opportunity against Swindon on Tuesday night after impressing as a late substitute at Walsall the previous weekend and the athletic winger laid on our equaliser for Bryon Moore with an inch perfect cross.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We were asking a lot of Michael against Swindon because he has only recently come back from injury and it was his first start.

“I didn’t think he would last as long as he did. I thought I would have to substitute him around the hour mark but he kept himself going and lasted the game reasonably well.
Now he has to push on and build on that.”

“He is still adjusting to this level of football but he is a good athlete and will only improve with full-time coaching and training."
