Summer signing back from injury and aiming to make to impact

Summer signing Michael West is hoping to make up for lost time after suffering two injury set-backs since signing from Ebbsfleet United. West suffered an heal injury as his body began to adjust to full-time training and just as he was beginning to regain his overall fitness, he suffered an ankle injury in an Development squad fixture.

West has now resumed full training and is back in contention for a place on the bench at Walsall this weekend.

The 21-year-old winger told crewealex.net: “It has been frustrating but I think it was my body adjusting to going from two hours training a week to 14 -15 hours. Hopefully now I'll be all right.

“You don’t get a day off in the physio room anyway so hopefully I can stay fit now. It's been good to see the other new signings getting in the team. It shows if I train and play well I'll get my chance.

“I'm sure if I get a chance I will take it. I need to prove myself at this level.

He added: "I think they brought me in to score goals, I scored from various positions. I have been playing on the wing recently but could go up front, it doesn't bother me. I don’t mind where I play.”
