Steve Davis says players have to reach their standard again
Steve Davis has reiterated the need for his players to hit top form in every game if we are to pick up results in a highly competitive League One. Crewe slipped to their fifth league defeat of the season at Portsmouth on Saturday and Davis admits too many of his players were below par in the second half.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have said it before this season that we need all our players to be close to their best if we are to get results. We cannot afford to carry too many and stretch ourselves because it is a tough league.
“We didn’t have anyone near their best in the first half on Saturday and only four or five came out with any credit in the second half. They were below the standard they have set themselves.
“They have done okay up to now and now they have to do better. We need all eleven to be close to their best. We know we have to create more chances and put them into the back of the net if we are to get the results we need.”
